St. Louis Sandbox

This map of St. Louis is my method for tracking how much of the city I've explored and how. It's partly for fun, but it's also a tool for critically analyzing my own relationship to the city. Having lived in south city for over a decade, that section of the city is pretty well-represented. Other areas, though -- north city, downtown, the riverfront -- don't appear much on this map.

It's not a perfect visualization. In many of these regions, I've done a lot of cycling, for instance. But this visualization is a good starting point for those times when I want to go out and try something new.

Navigating the Map: Click on any park or bus route to view its name and status (that is, whether I've visited or ridden it). You can toggle the layers on and off using the layer control in the top right corner.

Want to make your own? Fork this repository on GitHub and adjust the status of parks and routes accordingly. At some point in the future, I plan to tweak the code so that you can update your route and park status via a spreadsheet. If you do that before me, I'd love to pull your changes in!
